Beef dish disappears from fast-food chain in Japan

OSAKA, Japan - An outlet of Osaka-based fast-food chain Nakau Co. in Yodogawa Ward informs customers of the removal of a popular beef dish from the menu on Feb. 2. Nakau removed the dish at almost all its outlets across Japan the same day as it has run out of beef inventories under Japan's ban on beef imports from the United States due to mad cow disease there.

Glico again targeted by blackmailer

Japanese 'war orphans' in China visit vocational school

OSAKA, Japan - A group of 20 Japanese left behind as children in China in the chaotic final days of World War II watch an automobile tune-up lesson at a vocational school in Higashi Yodogawa Ward, Osaka, on Nov. 8. They arrived in Japan on Nov. 1 and will stay until Nov. 16 to search for relatives under an arrangement by the Japanese government.

On April 23, EDION announced that it had acquired all shares of Yumemi (Yodogawa Ward, Osaka City), which operates a children's programming school called "Robodan," making it a subsidiary. The company said the shares were acquired from Akinori Shigemi, president of Yumemiru, and venture capitalists. In December 2018, EDION entered the robot programming education business for elementary and junior high school students, accelerating the expansion of the business in anticipation of making programming education compulsory in elementary schools from fiscal 2008.
